Rum Village is a vibrant and diverse neighborhood that has been around for over a century. Our neighborhood association was founded to bring the people of Rum Village together to foster unity and create a safe and harmonious environment. We are proud of our beautiful and historic community, and strive to make it a better place to live for all of our residents.

Our neighborhood organization organizes local events and activities, and we host regular meetings to brainstorm ideas and discuss the future of our neighborhood. We look forward to seeing you at our next event!

In 1916 the City of South Bend purchased a plot of forested land, that would become known as the Rum Village Park, for $45,000. In 1957 the city created the Storyland Zoo which amazed visitors of all ages, until it closed its gates in 1981. The nature center built in 1974 still serves visitors today with engaging nature information and will soon be expanding its after hours activities to include community-focused events!!
